Solemn • Sacred • Severe is another doom record to make it on my list. These Swedes are awe inspiring with their heaviness and ability to write songs that stay with you long after the record has stopped. They fulfill the promise made with their two-song EP, Psalm Bok.
Be'lakor - Stone's Reach

Of late, Australia has registered on my radar as the new hotbed for metal with Nazxul and Portal making waves that have been felt around the world. Add Be’lakor to this list. Their sophomore release is the best slice of death doom since some of the earlier works of bands like Dark Tranquillity, Katatonia and Opeth. Be'lakor was truly within a Stone’s Reach of being my number one album for the year.

Doom, da da Doom! Yes, it was a doom year and While Heaven Wept returned in gleaming triumph with the best album of their career and of the year. Fleeting are the moments in our lifetime, in finding perfect musical and lyrically symbiosis on one album. Vast Oceans Lachrymose is one of these moments. Passion flows while plumbing the depths of my soul for the right words to describe it. Simply hoist the sail and prepare for a remarkable journey adrift on a sea of mournful bliss.
