STAFF TOP TEN PICKS

STAFF TOP TEN PICKS
Their first album in four years, and they are still showing the world they are still evil as Hell. “Stigmata”, “My Funeral” and “My Latex Queen” prove to the world that although they may have been relatively quiet for that time, they did not forget who they were. Fans both new and old should make room for this one in their collections.
Dark Funeral - Angelus Exuro pro Eternus

Horde of Hel - Blodskam
MYSPACE
This nihilistic band from Sweden is progressive and dark. Predominantly electronic in nature, the heart that beats in the chest of this anti-human offering is true Black Metal. While it may be somewhat hidden at times, it's there for the world to see.
Behemoth - Evangelion
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
There is no mistaking Nergal's voice for anyone else’s. His lion's-roar vocals keep progressing with each album, while the band's lyrics and presence grows larger and larger. "Shemhamforash",  "The Seed ov I" and "Alas, Lord is Upon Me" are the favorites from this year's Behemoth.
Dying Fetus - Descend into Depravity
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
Brutal American death metal at its finest. With tracks like "Shepherd’s Commandment" and the album's title track, these boys prove why they have been around for eighteen years.
Marduk - Wormwood
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
Many might say that the latest offering from Marduk isn't worthy to be on any Top Ten list because of its similar sound to Funeral Mist's Maranatha, something that, to be honest, isn't far from the truth, although this album does have its own legs at the same time. Some of the tracks, like "To Redirect Perdition", are more analogous to Mortuus' side project. Tracks like "Nowhere, No One, Nothing", "Phosphorus Redeemer" and "Chorus of Cracking Necks”, while still holding onto the traditional Marduk sound of years past, show that the band is still very brutal and possibly more blasphemous than ever.
Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
Catchy riffs and the trademark production of Peter Tägtgren combine to make this one of the most listenable (and possibly even danceable) metal albums of the year. "Hang Him High", "Weed Out the Weak" and "Sky is Falling Down" are some of the best tracks Peter has given us this time around.
Die Hard - Nihilistic Vision
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
Die Hard's Nihilistic Vision is one of the strongest debut albums I have ever heard. In boxing terms, this is a heavyweight contender with almost total knockout power. Watch out for that left hook. Favorite songs: "Bloody War", "Ride the Incubus", and "Attack from the Back."
Beherit - Engram
BAND'S WEBSITE
Another album that has proven itself worthy of the praise it is receiving. From beginning to end, you are never let down by these Finns. With tracks "All in Satan", "Suck My Blood", and "Pagan Moon" standing out the most, Engram is truly deserving of the label "phenomenal."
Funeral Mist - Maranatha
MYSPACE
BAND'S WEBSITE
The first time I heard this album, I hated it. But something got into my head and made itself at home. Between Arioch's vocals and the well-used samples of Evangelical sermons and what sounds to be a children's choir (on "Living Temple”), the musical composition is solid.  With songs like "White Stone", "Jesus Saves!" and "Anathema Maranatha", this is an album with a bone to pick. I'm pretty certain that this album will gain more popularity as time goes by.
Nazxul - Iconoclast
MYSPACE
From the first moment I heard the opening chords of "Apoptosis", I knew this album was going to be in my top ten list. I also feel that I need to put forth that I did this album a major injustice by only giving it four stars instead of the five I think it rightly deserves. It can only get better with these guys.
