I have always enjoyed music for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until the early 80s that I immersed myself in the metal scene. I was and will always be a fan of the NWOBH and European metal especially Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept and the Scorpions. Eventually, I discovered and explored every conceivable genre of metal. To this day, I pretty much listen to any guitar based music (not just metal). Jesse and I founded this site as an outlet for those who are passionate about and love all things metal.
When I was a kid in middle school, there was a weekly radio show on the local FM rock station called “Hard, Fast and Nasty” that was devoted to extreme metal and thus was where I heard several of my favorite bands for the first time. To this day, that phrase accurately describes my taste in metal. I, of course, love all types and my taste has matured over the years, but I’ll never forget where I came from. For almost 20 years now, metal has been my passion and we thought it was high time we added our voice to the rest of them by creating this site. One more beer and heavy metal and I’m just fine.

With a master’s degree in printmaking and a thesis on heavy metal and mosh pits, I spend my days carving images of the metal music scene into wood. After a boyfriend introduced me to Pantera’s The Great Southern Trendkill in 8th grade I kept the album, but ditched the guy. One time, I got a kiss from Zakk Wylde! (Secretly, it is a goal of mine to be kissed by more sexy metal gods). I love thrash, freshly cut linoleum, and blasting Motorhead in fifteenth century Tuscan churches while painting.
Chris has been a disciple of metal since Black Sabbath entered his life in 1976. Since then, his love of metal has spanned the numerous genres with Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Venom, Slayer, Bathory, NWOBHM, Dark Angel, Death, Doro, Nevermore and Sodom just to name a sparse few. An award-winning writer, his spare time is spent reading comic books and wondering silently why the world allows the intelligent to languish in a minority.
Deathstalker has been a fan of metal and underground music since middle school. While, appreciative of all genres of metal, Deathstalker enjoys pagan, folk, black and power metal the most. He is a trained classical oboist and music instructor. Because of these attributes, he finds he connects with music that has a melody. His favorite bands include: Iron Maiden, Sonata Arctica, Windir, Manowar and Moonsorrow. When not being engaged in music at work or in his free time, Deathstalker likes to play Frisbee golf, smoke cigs and drink shitty beer.
"Abrasive music has always been a passion of mine, beginning with hardcore punk and progressing to thrash and eventually death and black metal. Lately, the classic Swedish Death Metal and the nastiest Blackened Thrash Metal have become my primary focus, but as long as it's heavy and has no female vocals, i'm all for it. I'm also a huge fan of Blue Oyster Cult, Dio, Maiden, and zombie films."
Since 1998, I have been a full-fledged metalhead and since 2006, I have actually written about metal music. I am open-minded when it comes to most metal music, and will even listen to folk and classical music as part of the non-metal requirement. Other things that I like to do include drawing, writing stories, and adding to the ever-growing collection of patches that inhabit my jackets. As for favorite bands, there are too many to list here, but a sampling includes Sonata Arctica, Arkona, Hammerfall, and Manowar.
Rottenbucher has been a freelance journalist since the late 90s. He hates folk metal and romantic walks on the beach. Aside from writing for Metal Psalter and for a few other publications, he currently spends his time lifting weights, gardening and trying to figure out how to write a screenplay that will sell for millions.

When I was about two or three, I heard Judas Priest's “Breakin' the Law” on the radio and started to repeat the lyrics to my parents. They were some of the first English words I spoke. Growing up in Germany, I was exposed to heavy metal at young age via the radio and the soldiers that would play bands such as Metallica, Exodus, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden while they were baby sitting me for my mother and father. That left an impact on me that to this day, I have a soft spot for European power metal. Nowadays, my tastes have matured into a high admiration for black and death metal, but anything extreme will always get me lifting the horns and moshing like a mad woman at the show.

I've been listening to metal for almost as long as I've listened to music. I have a short attention span, and I have little patience for redundancy. I want to hear exciting, innovative metal, a band with something relevant to say. I don't want to hear yet another reimagining of Burzum's discography. I'm primarily interested in black and death metal. Aside from metal, my favorite genres include dubstep and free jazz.
The Stream has been a metalhead ever since he came upon a cassette tape of Pantera's Cowboys from Hell during junior high. Pretty soon he had acquired such classics as a VHS of Iron Maiden's Live After Death, as well as a copy of Metallica's Master of Puppets. The rest, as they say, is history. The Stream primarily enjoys the genres of power metal, NWOBHM, melodic death metal, as well as the occasional thrash metal ballad. The Stream works at an advertising agency in New York City and is often spotted at local shows. When he's not at his desk or crowd surfing at a show, The Stream can be found reading a good book, adding to his collection of sneakers, or in the steel cage.

Like many metalheads from my generation, I first got into metal through Metallica and Megadeth. Soon I was devouring the 1990's Roadrunner, Century Media, and Earache rosters. My love of metal grew exponentially from there on. Although I am a fan of all forms of metal, the styles that I listen to the most are death metal (in all of its many forms), thrash, and black metal.
