CONCERT REPORT
Blind Illusion - Demon Master
I’m not sure what to think about India’s Blind Image.

Wait, yes I do.

I know that they have tapped into this horrible ‘mall-metal’ trend with the utmost ease. You know the music of which I speak: it’s the growling, screamo jargon that only manages to force you into mental complacency, complete with clean crooning vocals that are overused and boring. Well, to me that’s Blind Image in a nutshell.

Every single verse-chorus-verse-chorus follows the same predictable pattern that is not only pedestrian and insulting to a real metal fan, but manages to further my hatred for this current trend of mall metal that leaves no indelible stamp on music anywhere. Further, upon hearing the tracks on More Than Human, the band’s second full-length, I’m immediately struck with the notion that the band seemingly has no discernable idea where its music is supposed to go. The guitars manage to produce chord-like progressions, but there is nothing even close to memorable here. This is typical generic screamo metal that, left to its own devices, couldn’t produce flatulent dispensation much less resonating music. I’m sorry to say it, but this is the very music that is attempting to kill heavy metal music and I wish it would stop calling itself metal.

“Ominous” sounds like early Stone Temple Pilots groove-like rock until the singer kicks in with those ridiculous bellowing vocals that sound as if armpit hair is being set on fire. I state this not trying at all to be funny, but as silly a picture as that may paint for you as a reader it is exactly the same reaction I get when I think that this unmitigated trend music is under the metal umbrella. I think we need an overhaul and fast! Like Black Dahlia Murder, From Autumn to Ashes, Bullet for My Valentine, and whatever other EMO-inspired messes you would care to include here Blind Image is as ridiculous as I make them out to be when they tell me to “go fuck myself” in “Allegiance in Defiance”. Well buddy, the feeling is more than mutual.

Do yourself and all of metal a favor and dismiss this album with the same intensity you would a fart in the wind - I only wish these bands would disappear as quickly and with as little stench as possible. My one star is mercy, nothing more. I figure if you can plug in your amplifiers you’re at least star-worthy.

Ridiculous.
