Bestial Mockery - Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw

Originally released back in 2002, Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw was the debut full-length album from Sweden’s Bestial Mockery; sadistic purveyors of some of the filthiest, most calamitous and hateful blackened thrash metal ever to be recorded.  Unfortunately for us, Bestial Mockery has since disbanded, and their final album saw them moving somewhat away from the style they played here and indeed throughout the duration of their careers.  Luckily we have this and two other full-lengths and about a million split releases with which to abuse ourselves.  Unhinged and unholy, this album’s ten tracks blaze by in under a half hour of spiteful and disgusting satanic malice.  Although the black thrash label is acceptable for this audio terrorism, the material actually has far more in common with the harshest of (classic) hardcore punk and d-beat.  The songs are all simply structured, the instruments sloppily played, and the production barely above demo quality, but still this nihilistic bedlam endears with it’s absolute lack of any sense of  beauty or melody.  Two of what remain the band’s greatest songs appear on this album in the chugging, malignant “Chainsaw Inkarnated” and the almost anthemic call to blasphemy of “Raise the Chalice”.  This re-release by Hells Headbangers is simply a re-release as far as I can tell.  There, thankfully, doesn’t seem to have been any remastering or other such audio tinkering done, and to tell you the truth, it shouldn’t have been as it would only serve to detract from what this album was supposed to sound like.  The point can not be stressed enough that this is UGLY music, and is absolutely not going to appeal to every fan of black metal.  As lo-fi as it is low class, Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw is absolutely mandatory listening for fans of black thrash.
