Good god, man. Do you just buy every movie that comes out on DVD or bluray? What possible reason could you have for wanting that horrible piece of shit?

1. What I buy/spend money on shouldn't be of any concern to you at all.
2. I didn't know much about the movie. Never saw it before I bought it. Unless you watch movies for free, you're always gambling your money with movies whether it's spending money at the theater, at the rental places or if you buy it. I refuse to take public sentiment and bad reviews into account before I make a decision to watch/not watch a movie.
3. I liked the movie. I can have fun with a total bullshit movie if it's entertaining. I know how to suspend my belief for a few hours.
4. You can buy DVD's now almost as cheap as renting, so I'm buying a lot.
5. The local rental place I rented from for almost 30 years went out of business 2 years ago. The only place to rent from in town now is Family Video and half the movies I ever rented there skip/won't play so I refuse to rent there. Never got Netflix because of the stories of people saying they got DVD's that skip as well. Because of this, I've been buying more movies than ever.
6. At your age you should know different people like different things when it comes to movies, music, etc. (Re: Your Metalocalypse thread).

Did I answer all your questions, Dead? Have I now informed you of all the reasons I like what I like and why I buy what I buy?

in general. i got a co-worker that like britton buys pretty much every dvd that comes out, and they just sit on the shelf in his house gathering dust. he doesn't watch any of them. they just sit there getting dusty. when he wants to watch something he doesn't go to the dusty shelf, he goes out and buys new dvds and watches them.

My cousin does that too. Has like 2K DVDs and has watched maybe a quarter of them. People act like they can take them with them when they die.

I actually sold most of my DVDs over the course of the last few months. Haven't bought a CD in years, any music I buy is digital downloads. The only reason I buy books is because those e-readers are pretty damn pricey. For me all that stuff is just clutter. I know you've said you have an entire room in your house dedicated to music and movies, but that's not an option for me, and honestly I'm not big into collecting things like that anymore.

I'll collect CDs before I bother with DVDs. I just don't watch them much - they have to be pretty darn incredible...I stopped buying DVDs once the whole Bluray/HD battle began a few years ago.

I have really cut back on what CDs I buy too, though I prefer CDs over digital downloads anyday.

Must be nice to have money to burn on random shit movies. 2012 has to be one of the worst movies made in the last 5 years. It's fucking terrible. That is, unless you are talking about 2010 and keep getting the title wrong, which is an entirely different movie which I've never seen.

I only buy DVDs that I really love and can get for a great price. Everything else I rent or watch online.

Britton, there are thousands of movies and TV shows you can watch instantly at Netflix. I'm on the $8.99 a month plan. One DVD out at a time plus unlimited movies to watch instantly.

I tried the free trial of Netflix for the X Box 360 a few months ago. It did have a lot of movies, but a large majority of the movies I wanted to watch were ones that had to be sent to your house.

I find myself buying movies more frequently than music these days. This in no way means I buy a ton of movies. I buy maybe on average 5-10 movies a year now. Which is plenty if you don't want to accumulate a collection with no replay value. Gone are the days of bulk buying for me. I constantly show movies to friends and loan out, so my dvd collection never gathers much dust.

I'm constantly re-watching my collection as well. In fact I just watched American Ninja for the umpteenth time.
I can't understand people only viewing a film once, especially if they enjoy it. For me, movies get better (or worse) with repeated viewings... Bava is a prime example, his films get richer every time I sit down to watch them, noticing and appreciating a little bit more with subsequent viewings. On the other hand, films such as Cloverfield, Death Race and Dawn of the Remake got worse.

Your reply makes no sense. It might have made sense if you were replying to the posts that said buying movies were a waste of money. I know what you're trying to get around to, but I have a hard time equating food that you need to live and/or buying movies with substance abuse.
