So UFC on Fox 2 was the polar opposite of 1. I almost feel like after the backlash UFC received from the one-minute network debut they encouraged the fighters to stretch out 2 as long as possible. Anyway from the way they were fighting, it looks like Sonnen and Evans are both going to get their asses kicked on their title shots.

Sonnen was fortunate to get the decision. He might have been looking past Bisping to the big summer match. The Davis- Evans fight was boring. Davis was out of his depth. This fight showed that a four inch reach advantage is useless if you've really no boxing ability.

Some great fights last night. I'm so happy Diaz lost and I hope he does retire. The prelims were pretty good too; Stephen Thompson may be one to watch.

Holy shit did you see Tate's arm on that replay? Rousey should get to take that home with her.

I'm noticing a disturbing trend in the womens strikeforce title fights: attractive, slender, in shape chicks getting pummeled by beefed up chicks that are probably on roids.

:wink

That was only the case with Cyborg's fights, who was fighting smaller women and who was actually doping. She used her strength to just beat the living shit out of everyone put in front of her.

Last night's title fight was not that way at all and on paper could have gone either way. Tate was 13-1 going into that fight and tore apart everyone she fought. Rousey was an Olympic athlete at 17 and the first American to medal in the sport. In a technical striking match Tate probably had the advantage, and even rocked Rousey with a few good punches and did some good work on the ground. It was a good fight but Rousey proved herself to be the best, and it's pretty stupid to belittle her by accusing her of doping.

She is hot too. That arm bar was brutal, it looks like Tate's elbow had been dislocated or broken.

Also, just found out that UFC will be nearby in Fairfax, VA on May 15. Probably would've gone to this if I hadn't already bought tickets for MDF.

Good card. I'm looking forward to the main event of UFC 145 as well.

The undercards at 145 aren't great but the main event makes it all worthwhile. Diaz/Miller on May 5 will be great too.

Such a long wait for these fights though. At least I have The Ultimate Fighter to keep me busy.

Overeem is one of my favorite fighters. I hope he wins though I'm a big fan of Dos Santos as well.

As for the fairfax card... I was planning on going with my brother but my car took a shit so i'm paying for that instead... woe is me. You bet your ass though that i'm watching UFC 146 somewhere in hi-def.

So Overeem is off the the UFC146 card now after testing positive for a banned substance. I was really looking forward to his match up with Santos :grumble

Although I can't say I'm too surprised at this news, given his dubious excuses for missing a test before the fight against Lesnar

That sucks. I was really looking for a fight, and really looking forward to Dos Santos knocking him out :)
Wish I was surprised too; not only the Lesnar fight, but come on, look at the guy, the way he put on 40+ of bulk muscle is pretty unreal.

Yeah, I don't care how much hard work you do in the gym, to have that amount of muscle mass you have to be juicing.

So now it's Dos Santos v. Mir. I like Mir a lot but I feel like he's going to get his ass kicked. I wonder who Velasquez will fight now?

Can't wait for the fight tonight!!!

What's on tonight?

Dos Santos v Mir is hard to get enthused about. Is Shane Carwin still injured?

Roy Nelson is saying on his facebook that he's agreed to fight Cain for the #1 contender spot though I haven't seen anything official.

Also, Stephen Thompson is fighting tonight:

JON JONES! :headbang Great fight and I'm surprised Jones didn't finish it, but Evans is a tough guy. Not surprised by the win though, I can't believe how many people were calling Evans for this. So Henderson is next for Jones; I can't see him putting him up a close to what Machida and Evans brought.

MacDonald is sick. I think he should get a shot against Condit since who knows when GSP will come back.

Loved the bloody mess from the Hominick/Yagin fight.

Thompson looked terrible on the ground. He's really new so can't knock him too much but he really needs to step up his game.

The main event went exactly as I expected. I knew Evans would go the distance, because he's shown in previous fights he's very durable. Evans, even with his fluidity of movement, couldn't close the distance to really trouble Jones. So it's really hard to see who else can beat Jones. Jones is that rare fighter that is seemingly strong in every area. If he didn't have a good chin, for example, he'd have possibly lost by now.

MacDonald looks a great prospect!

Holy crap, UFC 148 in July now has Silva/Sonnen, on top of Faber/Cruz and Ortiz/Griffin. Probably one of the most stacked cards ever. 147 will still be good anyway.
