Arctic sea ice could melt by summer of 2013Quote: December 12, 2007
Melting in the Arctic is occurring faster than most scientists predicted, according to research presented at the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco.
Both Greenland and Arctic sea ice are melting at record rates, with Greenland’s ice sheet losing 19 billion more tons of ice than ever recorded and summertime Arctic sea ice volume declining by 50 percent over the past four years. While just a year ago scientists predicted an ice-free Arctic sea by 2040, they now say the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012. It isn't the end of summer yet but the rapid arctic melt death spiral continues apace. The inventor of the internet agrees. Al Gore: World will agree new climate dealQuote: 2009

Typically this time of the year it's around 55-60 degrees. Today its 72.

Don't worry, a forecast (the same that predicted a warm US '11-'12 winter) shows the US returning to a very cold and snowy winter this upcoming season. It is the same type of two year US weather pattern that happened back in the '70s. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. EDIT: Here's two. The first JAMSTEC and CFS

Also, looking on the bright side... apart from that March outbreak, tornadoes have been below normal ever since. Plus we all should thank Rick Perry and his "rain prayers" for breaking Texas' "permanent" drought. Perry + God = 1 Joe Romm + science = 0

Mmm, I was looking at this one. which is a lot better than this one But looking at the latest http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/temp-and-preci ... h=05&day=5 they aren't out of the woods yet. But Rick Perry was right still, the rains always come back. We were officially declared out of drought only this year from a massive one that started all the way back in 1995. 17 years of drought. It took two years of rain and floods to get us back to full dams and full rivers. But all through last decade we were subjected to the experts pronouncements that the drought was permanent due to global warming and we will never see life-giving rains again.

Yesterday was another thunderstorm and another tornado warning... But the tornado warning wasn't initated by the NWS. Instead yet another dumbfuck saw a dark cloud and called 911. I live in the armpit of Michigan. I hope this heat wave causes mass death.

Michigan is a fucked up state in the way people think. Only people from here on such a large scale spend most of the year wanting it to be above 90 out. But, they never go in it when it gets here. They sit in the air. Room temperature is what? 68-73 or somewhere around there? Perfect weather is considered parts of California where it's 73 every day. But these assholes want it 90+. Until it actually gets here anyway. It's still 90 and the sun is going down.

These were the same buttfuckers who were jumping for joy when it was 90 in May.

All of a sudden for some reason it feels really good to me to go for a long walk in 90+ heat.
