I've been almost obsessed with this guy for a few years now, catching him whenever I see he's on TV, watching videos wherever I can and readin a few of his books. He's an astrophysicist and the curator of the Natural History Museum. He doesn't talk to his audience like they're his colleagues, he talks so the average person can try to grasp what he's saying. I remember reDing Carl Sagan books when I was younger. There were so many of those books in my parents house.
I read Stephen Hawking not too long ago and loved it.

I support it, PETA is far from being all bad. As in, like he said in the video, someone abusing a dog and saying "It's just a dog". That kind of thinking needs to change, especially if like Neil says, you think on it not locally but cosmically. Like I said, I'm not a big PETA fan, but I agree with their disapproval of people that think like that. It reeks of false superiority like Hitler had to treat people or animals like shit because they are "lower life forms".

PETA is a joke. They spend over 40% of the money they raise on costly and ridiculous publicity stunts and campaign ads. They're a bunch of nutjob extremists who believe that eating meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and even honey should be a criminal offense.
PETA loves dogs. So what?

I know you're right wing and need to go all in on your PETA hatred, but I have no problem applauding some of their efforts while eating a big juicy burger. He was pretty great on Real Time last night and surprisingly was on the panel. First time he was on the panel. No talk at all about PETA. Neil gave a most excellent and emotional talk where he pleads for some new huge telescope to be built that can see farther out by far than anything else currently built and talked about how the demise of the space shuttle program with no real plans to do anything else to take its place has taken away America's, especially young American's dream of "tommorrow". Don't know how he worded it exactly, but it was awesome.
