Marketing drone 1: Hmmmm. Hey guys, how could we get away with charging 150+ dollars for our special edition?
Marketing drone 2: Well... how about a plastic statue!
Marketing drone 1: GENIUS! Give this man a raise!

I rarely get them. Last one I got was Fable 3 because you got a bunch of shit for only 20 bucks more. Only upcoming one I'm getting is the collector's edition of Lord Of The Rings: War In The North because it comes with a fucking arrow quiver! :P

I preordered the collector's edition of Mass Effect 3. I don't normally get collector's editions. I just generally don't need the stuff they come with. Unless they come with significant DLC. Then I'll go for them.

As for Skyrim, I never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games.

I only ever played Oblivion. I liked it, but it was too FPS oriented in the camera and display. It had a 3rd person option, but it sucked. Also, it was just too daunting, too many things you could do and too many places you could go at any time. Skyrim is almost a totally different game than the earlier ones.

It still might be too open for you Britton. Although I've read the 3rd person animation system has been vastly improved.

Skyrim is bsically a continuation of the Oblivion model with a better graphic engine and tweaks to further take it closer to being a first (or third) person swords and sorcery, adventure FPS with minimal RPG elements. Stats, inventory, micro-management, crafting have all been reduced/eliminated to make it for a more straightforward, accessible medevial sandbox fantasy title. Some people hate that. To me it's the logical progression. I love the series from it's roots to Oblivion, and as long as they don't dumb it down to Fable levels I'm on board. In fact I can barely wait for 11/11/11 to get here!
