BANDS:
Cannibal Corpse
Skeletonwitch
Lecherous Nocturne
The Evisceration Plague Tour  2010
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I got to the show late and was only able to catch the two main acts, Skeletonwitch and Cannibal Corpse, entirely missing the other touring band, Lecherous Nocturne. But thankfully, both bands delivered the goods and I still feel like I got my money's worth.

Skeletonwitch hit the stage, and like previous shows I have seen from them, I was blown the fuck away. From songs like "Crushed Beyond Dust," "Fire from the Sky" and "Beyond the Permafrost", I am starting to get the impression that these guys will never disappoint live. And that is where it is at for them. By the end of the set, the crowd was definitely ready for the headliners to take the stage, anticipation high as Skeltonwitch closed with “Within My Blood”.

TO THE TOP
There is nothing that beats seeing a legendary band on its home turf. The crowds explode, and are more energetic for non-resident bands. Thus was the case with the Cannibal Corpse show on May 15th in St. Petersburg, Florida when Pat, Alex, Corpsegrinder, Rob and Paul played to a full house at the State Theater. Along with their supporting acts, including black thrashers Skeletonwitch, they tore up central Florida  proving that there is still life in the Tampa metal scene.
Once Skeletonwitch was done, it was time for the main event. Cannibal Corpse was getting ready to take the stage. The excitement at the venue was palpable as the backdrop for Skeletonwitch was taken down, revealing the giant red logo for the band. The pit began to get restless, as the band took the stage and just stood, waiting for the tension to build. As the first chord came from the speakers and the band began, the crowd exploded, into a mindless throng of thrashing hair and limbs.
The set was awesome. Corpse played a great mix of both classic and new songs, pleasing both fans old and new (There were Dads with middle-school aged sons in the audience, one band, two generations). Vocalist Corpsegrinder looked like an un-dead line backer while the band shredded through cult classics like “Scattered Remains, Splattered Brains” and more recent material like “Evisceration Plague” and “Priests of Sodom” off their new album The Evisceration Plague. “Priests of Sodom” was the dedication to the ladies in the audience, a change from previous tours where they have dedicated “Fucked with a Knife” to the girls in the audience. They ended the night on a high note with “Stripped, Raped and Strangled” unleashing the crowd back into the world, ready to devour the brains of innocent bystanders on the streets of St. Petersburg.
